Style evolution: Kareena Kapoor Khan
When it comes to clothing, Kareena Kapoor Khan is a no-fuss kind of woman. A self-confessed “jeans and T-shirt girl”, the star’s first few years in Bollywood were all about keeping it casual.
But then came Khan’s ‘size zero’ phase with 2008 movie Tashan, and her wardrobe turned glamorous with slinky silhouettes and lots of shimmer. Some of her most memorable early looks include a sequinned black Monisha Jaising maxi in 2011, and that strapless Dolce & Gabbana worn at the London premiere of Ra.One.
Come 2012, a newlywed Khan began easing up on the OTT embellishments, often revisiting the black-and-white palette. A simple white Paule Ka gown was followed in 2013 with a black Tom Ford, a classic Prabal Gurung in 2014 and that super slick Aiisha Ramadan halter in 2015.
As for ethnic ensembles, not much has changed since Khan’s Bollywood debut back in 2000. Saris are the star’s go-to, who has stepped out draped in designs by everyone from Satya Paul to Soup by Sougat Paul, and of course, her absolute favourite, Manish Malhotra.
